Men’s East League Division 6NE
Norwich Dragons 6s 2-3 Watton 2s
The first half of the match which finished 1-1 could have seen either side lead by a margin. McCartney Aldous opened the scoring with a high shot from the top of the D after a period of fine attacking play by Tom Vaughan, Joel Lawrence & George Bowman produced some great first touch interchanges. This led to a period of short corners which several variations failed to extend the lead. Watton equalised with a down the middle attack & were deigned twice by goal line clearance by skipper Mike Banham. With Dave Pentin, Alan Quinton, Pedro Goss & Sol Blazer running midfield it was a solid first half which seemed to be forgotten after the break as the middle seemed to get bypassed. Still the defence of Ray & James Hansell(who had a really strong first half) with Andy Carver & Aldous were not troubled until late in the second half after a flowing move saw Tom Vaughan score for the 2nd game running. Watton did equalise with minutes remaining & dragons lost Quinton in the same move to a shoulder injury. Watton then decided to mount a full attacking rush with 2 minutes remaining & Dragons turned the ball infield when playing for the corner was the best option & suffered the consequences. Freddie Dixon in goal was as confident as ever & James Hansell was awarded MOM.
