In their first experience of the England Hockey Under 16 Clubs Championship, Norwich Dragons sides came up against strong opposition.
The girls lost 3-0 to Magpies in a reduced first round of fixtures, as a result of Norwich City withdrawing from the competition. The next batch of fixtures for the girls takes place on Sunday 25th November at Lynnsport Kings Lynn when they play against Dereham and Pelicans.
On the boys side of the tournament, Norwich Dragons hosted teams from IES, Magpies and Norwich City in this round of fixtures. Magpies will be the local favourites to go through from this group with several players having represented the East. Due to availability problems with the boys, Dragons had just 10 players for their first match against the favourites and came away with a 12-1 defeat. Magpies then went on to beat IES 11-0, so clearly a very strong and in form team.
Dragons then played City, and by now the Dragons had a full team available, they lost narrowly 3-2. City beat IES 4-1 in the other match at the Den.
The next set of fixtures for the boys is on Sunday 25th November hosted by IES and includes matches against Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds. Then on Sunday 10th February the boys play Colchester and IES in Colchester.
