Ladies 4’s start the year off with a 4-0 win against Evergreens. 2-0 at half time with the opening goal from Catherine Matthews and the second from Lillian Sore.   We kept fighting in the second half knowing they could win the game back but we put in another two goals, first of the second half from Lillian Sore and the last goal from Catherine.  We had a green card against us and some challenging play but we kept up the high intensity and bagged ourselves yet another win! Pom Emma Merryweather for some excellent play!!!

Norwich Dragons Ladies 5s v Magpies 5s:  2-2

First game back after all the Christmas and new year excesses! The 5s rolled down to the pitch and into a much needed warm up led by our ‘warm up Queen’ Lou!  We knew the game would be one of our toughest games against top of the table and unbeaten Magpies 5s, meaning we were very much the underdogs! We didn’t start well conceding a goal in the first 5 mins. It was a bit of a shock to the system! Think we had forgotten how to play hockey. None the less we stayed strong and started to find our rhythm. Play started to link well and our first goal game after a great passing move down the right between Lara King, Claire Stuart, Lizzie McDonnell and Gemma Ballard. Gem narrowly missed a second goal a few moments later. We continued to match Magpies who had a lot of chances but our keeper Jillian Christie was AMAZING! Lizzie has a goal disallowed too. The first half finished 1-1. Magpies started strong in the second half getting a second goal from a short corner move with just 10 mins to go. Hannah Edwards also made a great goal line clearance to keep us in the game. We pushed on with Anita Mancini winning a short corner. Lizzie’s straight strike led to us equalising through Gem!! We were very happy.  Final score 2-2. Great game by all. MOM to Jillian  for keeping us in the match. Lara (Carol) in second place! Looking forward to the Carrow game where we will all be feeling fitter and stronger!

The 6s continue to yo-yo between winning and losing, going down 7-0 to Dereham 3s.  Again, we hadn’t played as a team before, and Dereham wouldn’t let us settle, tackling as soon as we won the ball.
Still, the match tea was good.
POM goes to Lizzie Costello for her wonderful defending. Special mention to our goalie, Emma North,  who saved a hell of a lot more than went by her.

Dev Boys B v Magpies:  1-2

On Saturday the boys dev B team suffered a close 2-1 loss to magpies.  They scored first from a short corner.  Vithu Baskaran equalised for us with a great strike.  Magpies then scored the winner when their winger was left unmarked during a rare Magpie attack.  Dragons had majority of the ball and played some good hockey but two excellent saves from the Magpies keeper prevented us equalising. After that, despite lots of effort, we failed to successfully work around the Magpies adult who defended resolutely. George Wilson was player of the match.
